How to determine size of chandelier
Clients often ask what size chandelier is best for a room. And since that light fixture is ceiling jewelry, it’s important to try to get the size right! Below is a guideline as to how to determine optimum size. Remember though--this is a guide. If ceilings are really tall (or really low) or if hanging over a table, adjustments may be needed.
For diameter:
Measure length and width of room (in feet)
Example: 10 ft x 12 ft
Add those 2 numbers
Example: 10 + 12 = 22
That is the recommended diameter (in inches) of chandelier
Example: 22 inches in diameter
For height:
Measure height of ceiling (in feet)
Example: 18 ft ceiling
Multiply by 2.5 or 3
Example: 18 x 2.5 = 45 or 18 x 3 = 54
That is the recommended height (in inches) of the fixture
Example: 45-54 inches
